Romans 6.15 - 18 What is a Christian?

An absurd question: Shall we sin…? [6.15a]

The obvious answer: NO! [6.15b]

A general principle: You are slaves of the one you obey [6.16]

The principle applied to us: You are a Christian! [6.17-18]

A. A Christian is a person who has EXPERIENCED A CHANGE

1. You are no longer the person you were: You use to be slaves of sin

a. Everyone is guilty [3.23; 5.12]

b. Everyone is a slave

2. You are now a different person: You have come to obey…

3. You have experienced a radical change

a. Will You have come to obey…

b. Emotions …from the heart…

c. Mind …the pattern of teaching…

B. A Christian is a person who has been CHANGED BY GOD

1. You were changed by the truth of God: …the pattern of teaching…

God’s power for salvation 1.14-17
God’s gift of faith 10.17
God’s gift of hope 15.4

2. You were changed by the God of truth: Thanks be to God!
