Romans 6.1-10
3.23 All have sinned
5.12, 19 All are sinners because of what Adam did
5.21 God acts to save His elect
5.1 We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone
4.7-8 We are forgiven and in a right relationship with God
6.1-14 How should we then live?
A. THE FACT: We died to sin [1-2]
1. Shall we go on sinning?
2. By no means! We died to sin
B. THE REASON: We are united to Christ [3-5]
1. Christians are baptized into Christ
2. Christians are baptized into the death of Christ
3. Christians are buried with Christ
C. THE EXPLANATION: We died and rose again with Christ
Summary statement [5]
1. The old order is over: We died with Christ [6-7]
a. The old man crucified
b. The body of sin rendered powerless
c. No longer slaves to sin
2 Corinthians 5.17
2. A new order is in effect: We are alive with Christ [8-10]
a. A definitive change
b. A new day
c. A wonderful future [8.11]
How should we then live?
1. Remind yourself every day of this FACT: I died to sin [11]
2. Pledge yourself every day TO SERVE, not sin, but God [12-14]
