Sermon, August 14, 2011 - A New and Living Way

A.M. Sermon notes Hebrews 10.19-25

Who is Jesus? What has He done for us?
How should we then live?

A. WHAT DO WE NOW HAVE?

1. A wonderful new privilege [19]

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence
to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus…

2. An all sufficient Savior [20]

…by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil,
that is, His flesh…

a. He is the way

new

living

b. How He is the way

The humanity of Christ

The death of Christ

The resurrection of Christ

3. A great help in time of need [21]

…and since we have a great priest over the house of God…

B. WHAT ARE WE NOW TO DO?

1. Live in faith [22]

…let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience
and our bodies washed with pure water.

2. Live in hope [23]

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,
for He who promised is faithful…

3. Live in love [24-25]

…and let us consider how to stimulate one another
to love and good deeds,
not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some,
but encouraging one another; and all the more
as you see the day drawing near.

Quotes of note...

None but the Lord himself can afford us any help from the awful workings of unbelief, doubtings, carnal fears, murmurings. Thank God one day we will be done forever with "unbelief."
