Grace alone, through faith alone

A. OUR EFFORTS DON’T MAKE US RIGHT WITH GOD [1-8]

1. Our friendship with God is NOT based on works

2. Why make an effort to live the Christian life?

Rom 6.1-2 Why not sin?
Rom 6.11-13 Present yourselves to God!
Rom 6.22-23 The outcome: eternal life

B. RELIGIOUS RITUALS DON’T MAKE US RIGHT WITH GOD [9-12]

1. We don’t become friends with God through ceremonies

2. Why have them?

a. Signs

b. Seals

c. The reality

C. KEEPING RULES DON’T MAKE US RIGHT WITH GOD [13-17]

1. You don’t become God’s friend by following rules

2. Why have rules?

Rom 7.7-8, 14-15 Is the law sin?
Rom 7.24 Wretched man that I am!
Rom 7.25a Thanks be to God!

We are made right with God by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
