Romans 3.21 – 22a

Righteous…justified…”on right terms with”…friends

A. THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD

1. The wrath of God is being revealed [1.18]

2. The righteousness of God is being manifested [3.21]

3. The righteousness of God: a gift of God’s grace

B. FOR US?

1. Nothing new

a. Witnessed by the Law [Genesis; Romans 4]

b. Witnessed by the Prophets [Habakkuk; Romans 1.17]

2. But now has been manifested

a. The incarnation [Rom 1.3]

b. The resurrection [Rom 1.4]

C. HOW DOES IT BECOME MINE?

1. Apart from law [3.21a]

2. Through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe [3.22a]

The voice that spells forgiveness will say: “You may go; you have been let off the penalty which your sin deserves.”
But the verdict which means acceptance will say: “You may come; you are welcome to all my love and my presence.”

Quotes of note...

We Christians must simplify our lives or lose untold treasures on earth and in eternity. Modern civilization is so complex as to make the devotional life all but impossible. The need for solitude and quietness was never greater than it is today.
