John 2.13-3.21 Who is Jesus? The Gift of God

For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish, but have eternal life.

A. WHY DO WE NEED SUCH A GIFT?

1. The emptiness of religion [2.13-17]

2. Unbelief [2.18-22]

a. Faith comes by hearing God’s Word

b. Unbelief demands a sign

3. Ignorance of spiritual things [3.1-15]

a. What must I do to enter the Kingdom of God?

b. Is it possible to start over again?

c. How can I change?

B. WHAT IS THIS GIFT?

1. The Son of Man lifted up [3.14-15]

a. Sin must be punished with death

b. God provides a way out

c. God’s gift is to be publicly displayed

d. Look up and believe in God’s gift

2. The Son of God sent [3.16]

a. A gift of God’s love: God so LOVED…

b. A gift from God Himself: GOD so loved…

c. A gift given for all kinds of people: God so loved THE WORLD…

d. A gift of real value: …not perish, but have ETERNAL LIFE.

e. A gift of grace: …He gave His only begotten SON…

C. WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH THIS GIFT?
