Philippians 4.10-21 The Secret of Giving Sacrificially
Why don’t people give to God’s work?
Why don’t Christians give more to the support of their local church?
A. THE SECRET OF CONTENTMENT [10-13]
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
1. This is NOT just the power of positive thinking
2. This is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
a. Jesus: the Man who died for us
b. Christ: the God-Man who rose from the dead
B. THE SECRET OF CONFIDENCE [14-19]
1. Your giving is always appreciated [14]
2. Your giving is clear evidence of your faith in Christ [15]
3. Your giving will meet pressing needs [16]
4. Your giving will bring God’s blessing [17]
5. Your giving is an act of worship [18]
6. When you give, you don’t lose a thing [19]
a. And my GOD…
b. And my God WILL supply…
c. And my God will supply ALL your needs…
d. And my God will supply all your needs ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES…
e. And my God will supply all your needs
according to His glorious riches IN CHRIST JESUS!
C. PERSONAL APPLICATION
1. Have I prayed about my part in giving sacrificially to God’s work?
2. Have I seriously considered what would be sacrificial for me?
3. Am I willing to obey the will of God when it becomes known to me?
4. Do I feel a sense of joy in having made my decision?
