Titus 2.1-10 Growing the Generation to Come
The task God has given us as a local church
is to teach God’s Word and to produce mature believers
who will then go out and point people to our God who saves.
A. THE CHURCH IS TO TEACH
1. The church is to teach the truth [1]
2. The church is to teach practical truth [7]
3. The church is to teach relevant truth
B. OUR TEACHING MUST PRODUCE MATURE BELIEVERS
1. We want mature older men [2]
2. We want mature older women [3-4]
1 Peter 3.4: clothe yourselves with the beauty that comes from within…
3. We want mature young women [4-5]
1 Timothy 5.13: be busy doing good; don’t be a busybody
4. We want mature young men [6]
5. We want mature believers in the secular work force [9-10]
a. conscientious
b. respectful
c. honest
C. MATURING BELIEVERS ARE TO WITNESS TO THE WORLD
1. Bringing honor to the Word of God [5]
2. Being examples of goodness [7]
3. Adorning the doctrine of God our Savior [10]
My response
1. Church Creek will teach me God’s Word: I will learn all I can!
2. I will pray daily for God to mature me
3. I will go in God’s strength, let my light shine, and share the good news!
