Colossians 3.1-17 Bad Habits and God’s Grace

We all struggle with serious patterns of sinful behavior.
But God has set us free from our sin by bringing us into the kingdom of His Son.
God instructs us how to put to death our sinful habits.

A brief outline of what to do to break your bad habits by God’s grace…

1. Be sure that you are in Christ [3.1, 3-4]

a. We are to constantly draw grace from Christ [2.6-7]
b. All that God has for us is in Christ [2.9-10]

2. Fill your mind and heart with the things of Christ [3.2]

3. Admit that you still struggle with sin [3.5, 8, 9]

4. See your sinfulness under the wrath of God [3.6-7]

5. Put off your sinful behavior [3.5, 8, 9]

a. Kill it! [5]
b. Get rid of it! [8]
c. Stop it! [9]

6. Put on godly behavior [3,12-14]

7. See yourself as God sees you [3.12]

a. Chosen
b. Holy
c. Loved

8. Open your life to the grace of God [3.15-17]

a. Fellowship
b. Word
c. Worship
d. Gratitude

9. Focus on others, not just yourself [3.18-4.6]
