Hebrews 4.12 The Word of God, Part 2

God’s Word is God’s gift of grace to enable us to always walk
closely with Christ.

A. WHY HAS GOD GIVEN US THIS GIFT? [For…the Word of God…]

1. There’s a danger that we need to avoid [3.12]

a. Distractions

b. Discouragement

c. Doubt

2 Timothy 4.9-10; Philippians 3.17-19

2. There’s a promise that we need to embrace [4.1, 9, 11]

a. Justification, adoption, sanctification

b. Assurance, peace of conscience, joy in the Holy Spirit,
increase of grace, perseverance

B. WHAT IS THIS GIFT? [For the Word of God…]

 1. A Word

 2. God’s Word

a. True [Heb 6.18]

b. Sufficient [2 Tim 3.17]

c. Clear [2 Tim 3.16]

C. WHAT IS IT ABOUT THIS GIFT THAT WILL KEEP ME CLOSE TO CHRIST?

1. The Word of God is living and active

a. The Voice of the living God

b. Alive with God’s power

2. The Word of God is razor sharp and pierces deep

a. It will cut in order to convict and convince us of our sin

b. It will cut in order to comfort and heal us

3. The Word of God is able to expose me for the person I really am
