Psalm 4 Trouble Sleeping?

Sometimes, like David, we will have trouble getting to sleep at night.

1. Sometimes the problem is people [4.2]

a. What others have done to me

b. What I may have done to others

2. Sometimes the problem is sin [32.3-5]

3. Sometimes the problem is some circumstance we’re facing in life

David shares what he has learned:

A. REMEMBER THAT GOD IS ALWAYS ON YOUR SIDE [3]

1. Don’t allow your panic to keep you from remembering this most
basic truth:
God is FOR you and not against you

2. Romans 8.31: If God is for us, who can be against us?

B. REMEMBER THAT GOD IS ALWAYS GOOD [6-7]

1. Don’t be discouraged by what others are saying about life

2. Don’t try to find all of your happiness in things

3. Romans 8.28: God causes all things to work together for good…

4. Romans 8.32: …will He not also with Him [Christ] freely give
us all things?

C. REMEMBER THAT GOD IS ALWAYS WITH YOU [8]

1. Psalm 121: He who keeps you will neither slumber nor sleep.

2. Romans 8.38-39: I am convinced that NOTHING will be able to
separate ME
from the love of God which is in
Christ Jesus MY Lord.

Quotes of note...

If we would talk less and pray more about them, things would be better than they are in the world: at least, we should be better enabled to bear them.
