Scriptural Stewardship Campaign Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Church Creek’s Vision for the Future?
The answer is summed up in the Campaign title: That the Generation to Come Might Know. The ultimate goal of this effort is to declare God’s Sovereign Grace and Glory to the current generation, to prayerfully consider the needs of the next generation, and to invest in meeting those future needs … all Soli Deo Gloria - for Glory to God Alone.
What is the Short-Term Goal of this effort?
We need to raise the funds necessary to update and expand the worship hall and to build a new fellowship hall on acreage owned by the church between the church and Ashley River Road. This will provide much needed space for the ministries of both the church and Charleston Christian School.
How will Charleston Christian School Benefit?
CCS students, parents and faculty will be able to use the expanded space for indoor convocations and recreational activities. The expanded kitchen facilities will also provide better support for school special events in addition to supporting regular church social functions.
How much will this project cost?
The estimated cost is $1.2 million.
How are we approaching this challenge?
After diligent investigative work by a special building team and much discussion, prayer and fasting by the entire body, the Church Creek Session and body agreed to engage TLC Ministries to guide us in a Scriptural Stewardship Campaign of “Equal Sacrifice, Not Equal Giving.”
Who is TLC Ministries and why do we need them as consultants for this project?
“TLC Ministries was founded with one purpose in mind — to help churches raise major funds for their facility needs, while helping them develop more responsive stewardship disciples.”
TLC was engaged to help us in understanding and becoming better biblical stewards and to guide us in organizing and completing this effort effectively.
During this Campaign will I have to ask anyone for money or will anyone be asking me for money? No. You are being asked to prayerfully seek God’s will for your participation; this is between you and God.
What am I going to be asked to do?
Everyone is being asked to take a spiritual stewardship journey which has four elements:
- 1 .Pray about what God would have you do.
- 2.Consider if your gift to the Lord represents you in a sacrificial way.
- 3.Be obedient to what ever the Lord tells you to do.
- 4.Make sure you have joy in your gift!
What principles is the campaign is based on?
-
Stewardship: Recognition that God owns all that we possess and that He will provide the resources for each of our lives.
Sacrifice: Both in our attitude of worship of God as Provider and the act of making sacred or setting apart our resources for God, we learn to sacrifice.
Commitment: We are challenged to purpose in our hearts what we should give and follow through by giving faithfully.
Involvement: Everyone wanting an opportunity to serve will have one. This develops a sense of community by working and giving together.
How can I support this effort?
We would like every person to serve on a Campaign Team, welcome a visit from one of the VIP visitation teams, participate in our prayer vigil, attend a Stewardship Bible study, and attend our Campaign “Celebration Dinner” on February 15.
How long is the Campaign?
We will be seeking God’s will for our church and ourselves individually from November thru January. The Campaign will conclude in February with a Celebration Dinner and an opportunity to pledge support to this vision.
What does this commitment involve? This commitment will be a pledge to give funds above and beyond your current tithe in the manner you feel led.
How long is the commitment period?
The giving period for individual pledges will start in February and will continue for 36 months.
What does “Equal Sacrifice, Not Equal Giving” mean? Stewardship is the recognition that God owns all that we possess. We are aware that we are simply managers of what He has provided for our use.
Everyone is not able to give the same amount financially. A sacrificial gift is one in which we change our lifestyle, rearrange priorities, and identify something specific to give up for the sake of God’s kingdom.
Will my financial commitment be made public?
No. Our financial team will tally the commitments for planning purposes, but there will be no public reporting of individual commitments or giving.
What happens if I cannot fulfill my commitment? The process of a personal commitment is very important in this campaign. The commitment card itself is not a legally binding document, and includes a statement saying: “This Statement of Intent may be revised or cancelled should circumstances make it necessary.”
What are the “VIP” Ministry visits all about?
These visits will not be made to solicit funding. Instead, these visits are about sharing three important elements of our Stewardship Campaign represented by the acronym VIP.
-
• The “V” stands for the “Vision” concerning our future as a church and the church’s role in our community.
• The “I” stands for “Information” concerning the future plans.
• The “P” stands for “Prayer” requests that you may want to share. These prayer requests will be the focus of our 24 hour Prayer Vigil.
These visits should be a personal opportunity for you to learn more about the project, ask questions, and share prayer requests.
Why Is This Called A “Scriptural Stewardship Campaign”?
This is to emphasize the fact that we are not approaching this project from a worldly perspective, but we are following practices outlined in Scripture. Both the Old and New Testaments contain many examples of God’s people giving sacrificially to support God’s work. We want to learn what they knew about joyfully sacrificing for God.
