About Us
We are Christian…
and stand with the historic Christian faith as defined in the ancient creeds of the church: The Apostles’ Creed and The Nicene Creed. We hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms as containing an accurate summary of what the Scriptures teach. Though these documents help us understand the Christian faith, the Bible itself is our only infallible rule of faith and practice.
Our purpose…
is to glorify the one, true, living God and to facilitate the enjoyment of Him on the part of His elect people. This purpose demands that we offer to Him pure worship as He Himself has directed in His Word, and that by word and deed we proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called us out of darkness into the light of His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are Reformed…
and we hold to the great historic truths of the Reformation. The doctrines of grace are to be taught and have practical relevance to our daily lives.
We are Presbyterian…
and in our form of church government we believe the local church is to be governed by “presbyters” or elders who are elected by the congregation as they are led by the Holy Spirit. The elders sit in a “session” and have oversight of the faith and life of the local church. Representatives from the session compose the “presbytery” and provide oversight for all the churches in a geographical area.
In observance of the sacrament of baptism, we believe that sprinkling or pouring of water best pictures the work of God’s Spirit and is a sign and seal of God’s covenant promises. While we do believe that all those who profess faith in Jesus Christ should be baptized along with their children, we do not believe that baptism saves anyone. Baptism is God’s covenant sign of the promise that He will remain faithful to His people.
What We Believe
We believe in the Trinity. There is one God who exists eternally in three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.
We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is our infallible and divine authorityin all matters of faith and life.
We believe that all men and women are sinners and are totally unable to save themselves or even to cooperate with God in efforts to earn their salvation.
We believe that salvation is by God’s action alone, who sovereignly chooses out of the fallen race of humanity those whom He will save. God alone saves the people whom He draws to Jesus Christ by His Holy Spirit. He convinces them of their sin and enlightens them so that they repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as He is offered in the Gospel. Because God alone knows who are His, we call on people everywhere to repent and to trust in Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who became man and lived and died and rose again to atone for the sins of those who trust Him alone for their salvation. Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity.
We believe that God’s Holy Spirit gives Christians the daily strength and wisdom they need to walk according to His will and to grow in holiness. The Holy Spirit unites all true believers together and imparts gifts for ministry and service.
We believe that Jesus Christ shall return personally, visibly, and bodily to judge all humanity and to receive His people unto Himself.
